L'industrie cimentière au Maghreb est dynamique et les investissements du groupe Erce en Algérie, notamment en faveur de la protection de l'environnement, sont révélateurs d'une prise de conscience. La productivité, c'est bien ; le respect des populations, c'est mieux… La substitution de composants secondaires comme le laitier de haut fourneau à des composants nobles gourmands en ressources naturelles est aussi très appréciée, comme le montre l'article de MM. Bouslama, Jelidi et Nazarski. Quant à Holcim Maroc, elle a fait appel à la société Sautelma pour appliquer son support technique à sa stratégie d'utilisation des cendres volantes comme additif dans le ciment. Dans cette optique, l'entreprise a souhaité équiper sa cimenterie de Ras El Ma, qui utilise deux broyeurs à ciment, d'un nouveau système d'introduction des cendres volantes par dosage pondéral.
Côté carrière, ce numéro vous donne un aperçu de la nouvelle installation de broyage des calcaires de la Sambre dont l'exploitation, démarrée en 1821, a suivi l'expansion de l'industrie métallurgique du bassin de Charleroi. Aujourd'hui, l'acier, le verre, le sucre et la chaux sont encore des clients fidèles de la société, mais les deux tiers de la production sont absorbés par le secteur de la construction (moellons, pierres à gabions, concassés et sable pour les bétons et les blocs de construction).
Les industries de la chaux et du plâtre sont également présentes dans ce numéro avec deux société d'ingénierie allemandes, d'une part Grenzebach, qui fait le point sur son offre en matière de séchoirs et fours, et d'autre part Schwab GmbH Feuerfest-Engineering, qui se propose de démontrer le lien étroit existant entre technologie réfractaire et process, afin d'améliorer la performance des fours droits annulaires dans l'industrie de la chaux. Vous trouverez un autre réfractoriste au sommaire de ce numéro ; il s'agit de Calderys, né de la fusion de Plibrico International et de Lafarge Refractories, qui dope ses produits au SiC et/ou à la zircone et propose une offre très concurrentielle au garnissage traditionnel à base de briques.

The cement industry in Maghreb countries is dynamic and the investments made by the ERCE group in Algeria in favour of the environmental protection in particular. The awareness that productivity is good but that protecting the neighbouring communities is even better has progressed… Replacing components extracted from the ground which consume large amounts of natural resources by secondary raw materials such as blast furnace slag is also very much appreciated as shown in the article written by Mr. Bouslama, Jelidi and Nazarski. Concerning the Holcim Morocco Company, it turned to the Sautelma Company to technically support its strategy of using fly ash as an additive in the cement manufacture. With this view, the company has wished to fit its Ras El Ma cement plant, which uses two cement mills, with a new fly ash dosing system by weighfeeding.
As far as quarries are concerned, the present issue gives you an insight in the new grinding plant of the Calcaires de la Sambre Company. Operating activities were launched in 1821, and have since followed the expansion path of the steel industry of the Charleroi area. Today, steel, glass, sugar and lime industries are still customers of the company, but two thirds of the production is consumed by the construction sector (rubble stones and gabion rocks for retaining embankments and walls, crushed aggregate and sand for concretes and concrete blocks).
The lime and gypsum industries are also present in this issue with two German engineering companies, on the one hand Grenzebach, which describes its drying and calcining systems and on the other hand Schwab GmbH Feuerfest-Engineering, which proposes to show the close relationship between refractory technology and process to improve the performances of annular shaft kilns in the lime industry. You will find another refractory producer in this issue: Calderys, resulting from the merger of Plibrico International and Lafarge Refractories, which bosts its products with SiC and/or zirconia and offers a very competitive range compared to the traditional brick lining.
