En ce début d'année, la croissance économique en France semble donner des signes de ralentissement (1,7%) par rapport aux prévisions initiales du ministère de l'Économie, des finances et de l'emploi (2 %).
Même si les Trente Glorieuses ne sont pas près de se reproduire, la majorité des Français souhaitent toujours devenir propriétaires de leurs logements. À ce titre, le rêve tire la croissance et le secteur de la construction a encore quelques beaux jours devant lui. Pour preuve, le fabricant de béton cellulaire autoclavé Xella Thermopierre fait tourner ses trois usines à plein régime et investira bientôt dans un quatrième site pour répondre à la demande. Les grandes manœuvres se poursuivent chez Lafarge, avec le rachat de l'égyptien Orascom Cement. À fin 2007, le groupe réalisait déjà plus de 45 % de ses résultats sur les marchés émergents. Avec cette opération, cette tendance devrait s'amplifier sensiblement et rapidement. Holcim France préfère jouer la carte environnement et lutter contre les émissions de CO2 en lançant le label Cimco2ol, qui met en avant les atouts de ses ciments composés, en l'occurrence des ciments au laitier.

At the outset of this year, economic growth in France seems to be showing a possible slowdown (1.7 %) compared to the Minister for Economics, Finance and Employment initial forecasts (2 %).
Although the post-war boom years called "les Trente Glorieuses" are unlikely to be repeated over again, most French citizens still hope to be able to buy their own dwelling. To this aim, the French dream is pushing growth and the building sector still has some good years to look forward to. As evidence, the manufacturer of autoclaved aerated concrete blocks, Xella Thermopierre, is running its three plants at full capacity and to meet the demand, will invest soon in a fourth production site. Major developments are in progress at Lafarge with the acquisition of the Egyptian Orascom Cement. By the end of 2007, more than 45 % of the group's bottom line was achieved through emerging markets. After this acquisition, this trend should significantly and rapidly increase. Holcim France chooses in preference to turn to environmental issues and to fight against CO2 emissions by launching the Cimco2ol brand, which promotes the properties of its blended cements, particularly slag compounded cements.
