Ce mois-ci, le dossier vous propose trois portraits d'entreprises, deux dans le secteur de la terre cuite et une dans celui du sanitaire. Ces secteurs sont touchés par la crise mais, en combinant anticipation des besoins du marché, création et savoir-faire avec l'appui des équipementiers, il y a encore des possibilités de tirer son épingle du jeu.
This month, you will read the profiles of three companies, two in the heavy clay sector and one in the sanitaryware industry. These sectors are impacted by the crisis, but by combining anticipation of market needs, creation & know-how with the support of equipment manufacturers, there are still some trump cards to play.

La morosité économique et la grippe A obligent le citoyen lambda à adopter la méthode Coué et à faire de la pensée positive et de l'automotivation des préceptes de vie et du "Je vais bien, tout va bien", son credo quotidien. Hors de cette cathédrale, point de salut, semble-t-il. Les signes de reprise se font attendre et les couloirs des Pôles emploi ne désemplissent pas, sans oublier les intérimaires, qui font partie des actifs à souffrir en premier de cette crise…
Après la trêve estivale et notre numéro Ceramitec, c'est au tour du Répertoire des fournisseurs de revenir dans vos boîtes aux lettres, comme les saisons dans votre jardin. Vous aurez dans ce numéro l'occasion de retrouver des portraits d'entreprises telles que Duravit (sanitaires) en France, Tognana (tuiles) en Italie ou Cerámicas Mora (briques) en Espagne, mais aussi des articles d'experts comme la Sfc avec les essais interlaboratoires sur la résistance des articles de table à l'impact, ou l'expérience de la société Beneq en matière de fonctionnalisation des surfaces grâce aux nanotechnologies. Eric Champion, de l'Ensci Limoges, détaille les voies d'amélioration des biocéramiques. L'accroissement des performances de ces céramiques ouvre sur plusieurs voies de recherche qui visent à améliorer les propriétés mécaniques et la bioactivité, ou à développer des matériaux intelligents ou biomimétiques. Un plus pour la population vieillissante, dont le confort de vie augmente grâce à ces matériaux.
Autre grand rendez-vous de la rentrée, le Congrès de la Sim, qui a lieu cette année à Mulhouse. Le 21 octobre après-midi, vous aurez l'occasion d'entendre Franck Evanno, de la société Neyrtec Mineral France, présenter l'hydrocyclonage des fines et ultrafines dans un circuit de broyage et Michel Hamelin, de Netzsch-Condux, comparer les atouts et inconvénients de la voie sèche et de la voie humide appliquées aux procédés de réduction granulométrique de poudre dans les industries minérales et céramiques. Le vendredi 23 octobre, dans la matinée, ne manquez pas non plus l'intervention d'Olivier Barthe, de Lhoist-Balthazard & Cotte, sur le traitement des fumées dans les cimenteries et verreries.

Signs of an upswing are still to come and the corridors of unemployment offices are very busy, and temporary workers are also on the dole, as they are part of the working population often suffering in the first place of this crisis… After the summer holidays and our Ceramitec issue, this is our Suppliers' guide, which comes back again in your letter box, like seasons in your own garden. In this issue, you will have the opportunity to read profiles such as those of Duravit (sanitaryware) in France, Tognana (roofing tiles) in Italy or Cerámicas Mora (bricks) in Spain. You will also enjoy reading articles written by experts like the French society of ceramics (SFC) relating to the interlaboratory tests conducted on the resistance of tableware articles to impact or the experience of the Beneq company in the functionalizing of surfaces through the use of nanotechnologies. Eric Champion, of Ensci Limoges, details the improvement ways for bioceramics. The increase in performance of these bioceramics opens the road to several research paths, that aim at improving the mechanical properties, the bioactivity, or at developing smart or biomimetic materials. This is a great help for an ageing population, whose living comfort increases thanks to these materials.
We'll be at another great venue next month, i.e. the Sim Congress, which takes place in Mulhouse this year. On 21 October in the afternoon, you will be able to attend to the presentation of Franck Evanno (Neyrtec Mineral France), who will present the hydrocycloning of fine and ultrafine particles in a grinding circuit. Michel Hamelin (Netzsch-Condux) will compare the advantages and drawbacks of the dry and wet processes applied to powder grain size reduction in the mineral and ceramic industries. On Friday 23 October, during the morning, do not miss either the presentation of Olivier Barthe (Lhoist-Balthazard & Cotte) on the treatment of flue gases in the cement and glass plants.
